Well, the Mounties have let us go - they said we`d been really entertaining, and fully accepted we hadn`t been making lewd gestures, as Jean reported. They quite understood that we were only practising some dance moves, and waving our hands about was all part of the sequence.

I`m not too happy about my bobsleigh being used without permission. As you all know, I`m happy to give anyone a lift, but knowing Lyn, she was probably under the influence. There better not be any scratches on it.

I knew Doreen`s spare tarpaulin would eventually come in handy, but did you ask her where she normally keeps it? You`d be surprised if you knew.

It does sound as if Eleanor`s been handing her cake around again - she fed some crumbs to the snake, and it`s never been the same since. Still, she must be fed up with that awful hair................

Amanda was really funny with the Mounties - she kept asking them could she join up, because "they always get their man." Julie said if Amanda joined, she was joining too - honestly, that`s all they think about. Julie did a belly dance for them, but it ngot a bit tricky, cos she didn`t have a lot of veils. Doreen offered her a few bandages from the First Aid kit, but they didn`t go down very well, as Jenni said they made Julie look more like the Invisible Man. Still, the Mounties were well entertained.

Right, I`m off to polish the bobsleigh - hope you`ve all remembered the password, and for goodness sake, don`t have any more of Eleanor`s cake.

Kathleen, the bob sleigh is no more! We are back to the trays, battered as they are! I have some awful news. We seem to have lost the snake. He was last seen in the igloo with Amanda, who incidently appears to have forgotten her earlier dislike for him, and the remainder of my retirement cake. She was feeding him little crumbs and being so kind and affectionate towards him. Being Amanda, she needed a little nap after having some liquid pain relief and when she woke up after a few hours he was gone. I am sure that he is not far away but i cannot see him. Of course I am having some difficulty moving far after the awful accident with the bob sleigh. I didn't know that water could be so cold or that Jean and Doreen could be so rough while pulling me out of the water. My poor head is in a terrible state what with the hair cut and now this. This has been Lyn's first adventure with us and, although her enthusiasm cannot be faulted, Barbara will have to have a word with her when she eventually emerges from whatever luxury environment she is holed up in.

Oh goodness, here Lyn comes again, what kindness is she wanting to inflict now????

Jean, I am sure that the photograph is of Lyn and I, surely I have not gone colour blind as well as anything else.

No bobsleigh?? No snake?? Is there ANYTHING with which you lot can be trusted? It was bad enough when it was Jean and Doreen lacking responsibility, but now we have Lyn to cope with as well.......................

Eleanor, I`m sorry, but I have no sympathy for you falling in that icy water - you are becoming very easily lead, and you need to stand up to those who would lead you astray. You should stick with me - you know I`m a very responsible person. I can see I`ll have to find another mode of transport - tin trays won`t get us very far, and Jean`s wheeled commode has never materialised. She and Doreen are far too busy trying to attract the glossies with their pics of sparkling wellies and luridly fluorescent suits.

It`s very tiresome trying to make sure you all fall into line - when on earth is Barbara coming?? Really, she`s the only one who can keep Amanda in check. She wouldn`t drink so much if you stopped telling her every day was a Sunday.

Right, I`m going to procure a disguise, and go and find some proper transport. Please stay in the igloo till I get back, and try and stay out of trouble. I`ve taken the remains of Eleanor`s retirement cake with me - it might come in handy.

Kathleen will never resist eating the cake, and I noticed she took a bottle of whisky with her.

That's the last we'll see of her!LOL

It's the snake that worries me. Has she realised that it is gone? You know the carry on she has with the dram in her never mind the retirement cake!

Oh my word!!! Pull over Amanda's coat from the front of the igloo! What on earth is Lylie doing leading that herd of sweet cows with bells around their necks? oh, that one just lifted its tail in front of the igloo! Lyn, you know how you washed the ski socks and left them out to dry ? Well, guess what?

Sorry Lylie, WHAT did you say??? Escape on the cattle, sit on them or what?????

Oh no!! Don't tell me the socks all need to be re-washed? It's not easy getting the blighters dry in these conditions! And we've no lovely soap left!

As for that darned snake I've looked all over for it and it's nowhere to be seen. Amanda does seem to be making some unusual hissing noises and she's asleep again. You don't suppose she's eaten the thing do you? You know what she's like for natural products Blink

Eleanor, I don't think Lylie said "escape on the cattle" Scared Scared she wants us to cook up a grand meal "Escalope of cattle"!!! Come on let's get a fire started, ready, steady, cook the cattle!!! Don't know what we're going to do for trimmings but I'll have a scout around see what I can find. It must mean everyone's coming back and we're going to celebrate!! Whooppee ........

I know things have become a bit chaotic for you ladies but please take me back - I'm fed up to being a Mountie hussy - I thought they'd taken a fancy to me but they only wanted me for an extra hand to muck out the horses - when you ladies are 'en piste' in your glamourous outfits and planning a major barbecue by the sounds of it! H E L P!

It`s about time Lyn finished washing those socks, I think. I suppose she`s been busy looking for things for Lylie`s feast. I mean, if she wants cattle she only need follow the sound of the cow-bells.

You`ll all be pleased to know I have found the snake!! Eleanor had taken off her pig-tail hat, and it was curled up in a tiny ball inside! I knew you`d all be glad!

I have to admit that I did indeed have just a teeny weeny bit of Eleanor`s cake, and a teeny weeny bit of whisky to wash it down, so as soon as I can, I`m off to have a go on the ski-jump. I mean, it looks quite straightforward to me, and if Doreen can do it, so can I. Wouldn`t trust Jean to have a happy landing though, not with those metal threads in her thong.

Wheeeee................................................................

Oh dear! Sad to report that Kathleen has had an 'accident', if that is what you call a brave attempt to conquer the ski jump while wearing pink sparkley wellie boots with over the top ski socks. Even Doreen did wear her skis, even if they did have lots of corks hanging from them. Don't ask! Oh all right then, they were from Amanda's medicinal wine bottles and it was best to display them so as not to forget just how many she has managed to need over the past few weeks. However, we now have Kathleen in plaster, Lyn is running amok chasing cows trying to push them onto a huge bonfire she has made. Julie has returned to the fold after her experience with the mounties but is already peering down at me from the Canadian flag pole. What is it about that lassie that she always wants to be climbing? perhaps we should try Nevis next? Kathleen would really enjoy that as we would be near to the distillery for a historical tour (with samples) . Oh my, what is this now? Jean, Mary and Doreen running down the hill with a group of mounties chasing them!!!!!

You will be pleased to know the socks are all washed and dried and ready for use. Sorry it took so long, I couldn't find anywhere to plug the iron in. Don't igloos have sockets? Huh

I've also been busy slicing beef steaks, digging up spuds, collecting sprouts and trying to find somewhere that sells bisto. Just got to finish the bonfire then the barbecue can commence. Good to see Jean, Mary and Doreen coming in time for the feast but alas I haven't cut enough steaks for all those mounties they didn't mention they were bringing guests. For goodness sake ladies don't you think we've had enough problems with mounties without bringing them with you!

Kathleen, I was so pleased you managed to find that snake. Actually I think Eleanor knew it was there all along, it was keeping her head warm. But what are we going to do with you now you've got a whacking great lump of plaster to tote about? How are we going to get you to Nevis like that? No I don't know which Nevis she 's talking about either! Eleanor is it Ben or West Indies? Don't know whether they have distilleries in the W.I. so perhaps it is Ben. We could really do with knowing. I see that has encouraged Julie to come down the pole. Hello Julie you look a bit cold you need something off my bonfire to warm you through. Hold on a sec. ...

Dear everyone,

I have only NOW awoken from a heavy slumber, i think induced by either Eleanor's cake (was there something in that?) or my own wine. There is a vague, fuzzy recollection of something long and snake-like sitting next to me, yes, I think is IS the snake, and I confess, I did feed him crumbs...oh, and a few shots of tequila which I found in Doreen's bra!

Julie and I had such fun with the mounties, what extraordinary people! They can drink 30 tequila slammers and not fall over. That demands respect. As for Julie and myself, we had 20 and were goners....

Has anyone seen my lovely Barbara? I was supposedly taking care of her (I am her primary carer since being released from re-hab what were they thinking of?) but sadly I seem to have lost her... If you find her will you send her back to me. I am eating beef steaks with Lyn and filling my glass as I write!

PS; Oh yes! I have managed to retrieve ALL the life jackets, cabbage leaves and sparkly thongs so once everyone is assembled we can have a good TRY ON!

Love,
A

Was that beef? It tasted funny to me. Mind you, those herbs which Amanda stuffed in the sprouts may have had something to do with it. Imagine Lyn finding the bisto! Wasn't it nice of that mountie taking her on his horse to the corner shop!
Ben Nevis Lyn!!!!!! Kathleen will love it as her plaster should be off by then. I don't think that the snake should come. It will be hard for him to acclimatise and anyway, he is a bit of a pain. My hair, what little Lyn left, is stinking.

Dooreen and Julie are playing in the snow as I type. Jean and Lylie are working on our transport home. MH is -----oh dear-------- what has he found now------is that a cafe------
